Terms of Service
Last updated: September 2026
Flicker Storybooks gives adults a way to create a personalized illustrated storybook starring the people, pets, and characters they care about. We use AI to create each story and set of illustrations from the details you choose.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) apply when you access or use the Flicker Storybooks website, apps, and services (the “Service”). By creating an account, making a purchase, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. Adults manage Flicker accounts
Flicker is designed for adults to create illustrated storybooks for children. You must be at least 18 years old to create or manage an account.
Children may help choose characters, story ideas, and other creative details with an adult's permission and supervision. Children may not create their own accounts or provide personal information directly to Flicker.
The adult account holder is responsible for:
- All activity under the account;
- The information submitted;
- Reviewing generated stories and illustrations;
- Deciding whether a book is appropriate for its intended readers; and
- All purchases and print orders.
By creating an account, you confirm that you are at least 18 years old.
2. Your account
Flicker currently uses Google Sign-In. You are responsible for keeping your Google account and Flicker account secure.
Contact us promptly if you believe someone has accessed your account without permission.
3. How Flicker uses AI
A lot of love and care has gone into the way Flicker uses AI. Every story begins with the characters, relationships, and ideas you choose. Our generation process turns those details into a complete illustrated storybook created specifically for you.
Flicker does not pull completed stories from a shared library or reuse someone else's book. Each story and set of illustrations is created for that storybook. Every book is meant to feel personal and special enough to keep.
Even with the care built into the process, AI may occasionally produce a mistake, inconsistency, or unexpected detail. Review every page before sharing, downloading, gifting, or ordering a printed copy.
4. Your content and your books
You keep all rights you hold in the titles, story ideas, names, character descriptions, and other original material you provide (“Your Content”). You are responsible for making sure you have the right or permission to use everything you submit.
As between you and Flicker, your completed book is yours. Flicker does not reuse, resell, or provide your completed story or illustrations to another user. To the extent Flicker holds any rights in the generated content, Flicker assigns those rights to you where permitted by law.
Your book is yours to read, download, print, share, teach with, and give as a gift for personal, family, educational, and other non-commercial purposes. Access to certain features may depend on your current plan.
To make Flicker work, you give us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, copy, process, format, transmit, and display Your Content and your generated books. This permission allows us to create, save, display, deliver, and support your books, keep the Service secure, fix problems, and improve how Flicker works.
This permission does not give Flicker ownership of Your Content or your completed books. It also does not allow us to sell your content or give your completed book to another user.
5. Using Flicker responsibly
Flicker is meant for creating stories that everyone can safely enjoy. You agree not to use the Service to create, submit, or share content that:
- Is unlawful, hateful, threatening, harassing, sexually explicit, exploitative, or harmful;
- Depicts a child or minor in an inappropriate, sexualized, exploitative, or unsafe manner;
- Promotes violence, abuse, self-harm, discrimination, or dangerous conduct;
- Uses someone's name, likeness, personal information, or private details without permission;
- Infringes another person's copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights;
- Impersonates another person or misrepresents the source of content;
- Attempts to bypass payment, credit, access, or safety controls; or
- Disrupts, reverse-engineers, scrapes, overloads, or otherwise abuses the Service or its AI systems.
We may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or close accounts that violate these rules or place Flicker, its users, or others at risk.
6. Plans, credits, and payments
Some Flicker features require book credits, a paid subscription, or a separate purchase. Before you purchase, we will show the price, included credits, available features, and any credit expiration or rollover terms.
Book credits have no cash value and cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash unless Flicker states otherwise.
Payments are processed by Stripe. Flicker does not receive or store your full payment-card number.
Paid subscriptions renew automatically at the price and billing frequency shown when you subscribe unless you cancel before the next renewal date. You may cancel through your account to stop future renewals.
Canceling a subscription does not automatically refund charges already made or delete your Flicker account. Your access to paid features may change when the current billing period ends.
Except where required by law or expressly stated otherwise, completed purchases and subscription fees are non-refundable.
We may change plan features or prices. We will provide advance notice when required.
Applicable taxes, printing costs, and shipping charges will be shown before you complete a purchase.
7. Printed storybooks and shipping
Printed Flicker storybooks are made after you place your order. Review every page and confirm the shipping information before completing your purchase.
Once a personalized storybook enters production, it generally cannot be changed or canceled.
Production and delivery dates are estimates. Printed colors, placement, cropping, and other physical details may vary slightly from the digital preview.
Because each printed storybook is personalized and made to order, it generally cannot be returned unless it arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, or unless a return is required by law.
Contact us if there is a problem with your order.
8. Your books and Flicker's work
Your completed illustrated storybooks belong to you as described in Section 4. The platform and brand used to create them belong to Flicker.
The Flicker Storybooks name, logo, mascot, software, interface, artwork, design system, and overall appearance belong to Flicker or its licensors and are protected by intellectual-property laws.
These Terms do not give you permission to copy, sell, modify, distribute, or use Flicker's branding or proprietary materials without written permission.
9. Service availability and limits
We work to keep Flicker reliable and secure, but no online service works perfectly at all times.
Flicker is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all express and implied warranties, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, and non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that the Service will always be available, uninterrupted, secure, or free from errors. Features may be changed, paused, or discontinued.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Flicker will not be responsible for indirect, incidental, special, exemplary, or consequential damages resulting from your use of the Service.
Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service will not exceed the amount you paid Flicker during the 12 months before the event that caused the claim.
Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions or liability limits, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Ending your account
You may stop using Flicker at any time and may cancel a paid subscription through your account.
You may also delete your account from the “Manage plan” screen in your account menu. Deleting your account signs you out immediately. If you sign back in within 30 days, your account and saved content are restored. After 30 days, your account and saved content are permanently erased and cannot be recovered. Payment and order records may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate access if you violate these Terms, create risk or harm, fail to pay applicable charges, or misuse the Service. When practical, we will provide notice before closing an account.
Download any books you want to keep before deleting your account.
Terms concerning ownership, acceptable use, disclaimers, liability, and any other provisions that must continue to remain effective will survive termination.
11. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms when Flicker's features, services, or practices change.
When we do, we will revise the date above and provide additional notice when a change is material or when required by law.
Continuing to use Flicker after the updated Terms take effect means you accept the revised Terms.
