Flicker Storybooks gives adults a way to create a personalized illustrated storybook starring the people, pets, and characters they care about.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and share it, and the choices available to you.
1. Information we collect
Your account
When you sign in with Google, we receive information associated with your Google account, such as your name, email address, and profile picture.
Your storybooks and characters
We collect the information you provide while creating and managing illustrated storybooks, including:
- Storybook titles and ideas;
- Author names;
- Age ranges, formats, and art styles;
- Character and family descriptions;
- Saved heroes and creative settings; and
- The stories and illustrations generated for you.
Flicker does not currently support image uploads. All character and personalization details are entered as text.
Optional personalization details
You may choose to include details such as a person's first name, general age range, appearance, interests, or family relationships.
Only provide information you have permission to use. Do not include details that are not needed for the story, such as someone's last name, exact birthdate, school, contact information, precise location, or other sensitive information.
Payments and subscriptions
When you purchase credits, start a subscription, or order a printed storybook, Stripe processes your payment.
We receive transaction confirmations and limited billing information. We do not receive or store your full payment-card number.
Print orders
If you order a printed storybook, we collect the information needed to complete and support the order. This may include your name, email address, shipping address, order details, and delivery status.
Usage and device information
We may automatically receive basic technical information when you use Flicker, including your IP address, device type, browser, operating system, session information, timestamps, feature interactions, and diagnostic or error logs.
Messages you send us
If you contact us for help or feedback, we collect the information included in your message and any details needed to respond.
2. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Create, save, display, and manage your illustrated storybooks;
- Manage your saved heroes and families;
- Personalize stories based on the details and choices you provide;
- Generate stories, illustrations, covers, and related book content;
- Process subscriptions, credit purchases, and print orders;
- Deliver printed storybooks and provide order support;
- Keep you signed in and maintain your account;
- Communicate with you about your account, purchases, books, or support requests;
- Detect misuse, prevent fraud, and protect the Service;
- Review generation quality and fix technical problems;
- Improve Flicker's performance and reliability; and
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
Authorized team members may access storybook content when needed to answer a support request, investigate a safety concern, correct a technical problem, or review generation quality. Access is limited to people who need it for those purposes.
3. How Flicker uses AI
A lot of care has gone into how Flicker uses AI and how we handle the information that makes each story personal.
To create your illustrated storybook, Flicker sends the information needed for generation to third-party AI providers. This may include your story idea, creative settings, selected characters, and other relevant story details.
We limit what we send to what is reasonably needed to generate and support your storybook. Flicker does not sell your prompts, character descriptions, stories, or illustrations. We also do not reuse your completed storybook or provide it to another user.
If you include information about a real person, that information may be processed by our AI providers while creating your storybook. Do not enter sensitive or unnecessary personal details.
4. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising.
We share information when needed to operate Flicker, complete your requests, protect the Service, or comply with the law. This may include sharing information with:
- Google for account sign-in;
- Stripe for payments, subscriptions, and billing;
- AI providers for story and illustration generation;
- Hosting, database, security, and infrastructure providers that help operate the Service;
- Print, fulfillment, and shipping partners when you order a physical storybook; and
- Professional advisers or authorities when needed to comply with the law, address fraud or security concerns, or protect Flicker and others.
Information may also be transferred as part of a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of Flicker's assets, subject to applicable privacy requirements.
If you share a storybook or preview link, anyone with access to that link may be able to view the associated content. Review the storybook before sharing it.
5. Children's privacy
Flicker storybooks are created for everyone to enjoy, but Flicker accounts, purchases, and storybook-creation tools must be managed by adults aged 18 or older.
Children may help choose characters, story ideas, and other creative details alongside a parent, guardian, educator, or other responsible adult. Children should not create an account or submit personal information directly.
The adult account holder is responsible for all information entered through the account.
If an adult provides a child's first name or another optional detail, we treat that information as part of the adult's creative content. We use it to create, save, display, and support the requested storybook as described in this Policy.
Contact us if you believe a child has submitted personal information directly to Flicker without appropriate permission. We will review the request and take appropriate steps to remove the information.
6. Cookies and sessions
Flicker uses cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember essential account settings, maintain security, and support reliable performance.
We do not use advertising trackers.
Disabling necessary cookies may prevent you from signing in or using parts of the Service.
7. How long we keep information
We keep account information and saved content while your account is active or for as long as reasonably needed to provide the Service.
You can delete individual storybooks, characters, or families through the available account tools.
You may delete your entire account at any time from the “Manage plan” screen in your account menu. When you delete your account, you are signed out immediately. If you sign back in within 30 days, your account and saved content are restored exactly as you left them. After 30 days, your account and its associated content — storybooks, illustrations, saved characters, places, and order history — are permanently erased from our systems.
Deleted information may remain temporarily in secure backups. We may retain limited information when needed for fraud prevention, security, legal compliance, dispute resolution, or financial record keeping.
Payment and order records may be kept longer when required by tax, accounting, or other laws.
We do not keep personal information longer than reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this Policy.
8. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate information;
- Request a copy or export of your information;
- Delete certain personal information;
- Object to or restrict certain uses of your information; or
- Appeal a decision concerning a privacy request.
You can manage certain content through your Flicker account. For other requests, contact us using the email below.
We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. We will respond as required by applicable law.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards to protect your information and limit access to the people and providers who need it to operate the Service.
No online service can guarantee complete security. We work to protect your information and respond to security concerns when they arise.
10. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when Flicker's features, services, or practices change.
When we do, we will revise the date above and provide additional notice when a change is material or when required by law.
